Great op-ed piece of a hypothetical conversation between a governor and the President regarding the secession of one of the states. If only it were this simple.

“Good Morning, Governor, how might we…”

“Mr. President, I realize you are a busy man so let’s get down to brass tacks…we are calling the ball and withdrawing our support of your Administration and the Federal government in DC. Effective immediately, we have coordinated to place all outgoing receipts to the IRS in a caged account here in Boise…”

“Governor, you can’t do that…”

“Please don’t interrupt while I am speaking as we are from this point onward peers in the family of nations. I hope you have reviewed the diplomatic instruments we sent by courier last night to Department of State which delineates the terms of our divorce.”

“I did receive those and you have no earthly idea the can of whoop-…”

“Please, sir, maintain the decorum of these proceedings so we can move forward to an amicable separation. I give you my personal assurance on the safety and well-being of all Federal personnel we have detained for immediate repatriation to the remainder of these United States. Any non-law enforcement Federal personnel who wish to remain behind will be permitted to do so.”

“I hope you have thought through the consequences of what you are embarking on.”

“Mr. President, we have had over two hundred years to give the rulers on the Potomac a chance but that time has expired. Effective immediately, all so-called Federal lands now belong to the nation of Idaho and we will dispose of these lands at our leisure. In the interest of burying the hatchet, we will not seek compensation for the seizure, abuse and tenure of Federal practices on the aforementioned land and call the balance even.”

“Those are my lands, Governor…”

“In actuality, they belong to neither of us, sir. On to other business, I have alerted my National Guard forces to establish checkpoints at all the main arterials in and out of Idaho. All National Guard forces deployed overseas will return home in the next 48 hours. I would also caution you on the use of military force to convince Idaho and its citizens to forcibly return to the yoke of the Union. Idaho has a well-deserved reputation as a rather well-equipped state in firearms possession and use. As Yamamoto said, you may find a rifle behind every blade of grass.”

“Are you threatening the president of the United States?”

“No, sir, I am simply making an observation about the hazards of one country invading another.”

“You are land-locked, Governor and wholly dependent on federal subsidy for a great deal of employment and infrastructure in Idaho.”

“No longer, the tremendous tax burden across the spectrum formally imposed in our nation as a subject State in your country is now effectively terminated and we are going to unleash the free market to address all of our former shortcomings as a result of the overarching government supremacism practiced here before. In telephone conversations with my neighboring governors, we are on the verge of Confederation negotiations that will pave the way for Idaho embassies in British Columbia, Montana, Utah and Wyoming. We do intend on opening a consular office in DC as soon as we can ensure the diplomatic baggage containing sufficient weapons assures our safety in the greater DC metropolitan area for our diplomatic personnel.”

“Governor, what Constitutional right do you have to secede from the US?”

“Mr. President, the behavior you have exhibited toward the Constitution has been at best characterized by active neglect and abhorrence for the restraint on governance in the Bill of Rights. I am rather surprised you would resort to assuming the document in any way has weight in Washington, DC. I would suggest my rights extend as far as our ability to throw off what has become a government of occupation instead of cooperation. We resign, sir and wish to go in peace.”

“I will use every measure in my arsenal to force you back into the fold.”

“Mr. President, thank you for the heads-up but we have taken certain precautions to ensure that any rash measures on your part have a disproportionate impact in the DC/Virginia corridor. Please don’t press us on the issue. I would like to offer one more rather moderate important proposal to our future business. These United States as administered by DC are now essentially bankrupt. War on the world, out of control spending and borrowing, debt and deficit, non-funded future liabilities in the tens of trillions and a banking infrastructure rotten at every level has pushed the US to an economic abyss from which it cannot shrink. We will provide you a demonstration project of tiny government, free banking and a formerly enslaved citizenry unleashed to realize their potential with no government interference. We simply wish to go our own way untethered from the Remora Nation DC came to symbolize.”

“Governor, this conversation is over.”

Why I Won’t Vote For Obama

In a previous post, a reader had asked why I stated McCain is a better choice than Obama. I mentioned in that post my disdain for McCain, but I do still firmly believe he’s as they say in the voting world, “the lesser of two evils.”

This isn’t going to be a long expose’ or fact revealing post of Obama’s empty promises or socialistic ideas, just a listing of why I can’t vote for him. Maybe later I’ll explore each point and dissect each one.

  • Obama’s support of gun bans. He was a vocal proponent of the Chicago gun ban and supported the DC gun ban as well. He thinks the 2nd Amendment is interpreted based on where you live - “What works in Chicago may not work in Cheyenne,” Barack Obama said after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the Washington, D.C., gun ban.” Obama is just like any other gun hating liberal who thinks the answer to gun violence is to ban them or make it even harder for law abiding citizens to own them.
  • Obama’s stance on Universal Healthcare. Obama and Clinton’s plan are nothing but socialistic redistribution of wealth. Obama touts his healthcare plan as a great compromise for people of all incomes by stating those who can afford and choose to continue using a private healthcare insurer, can do so. At their expense of course. So if you choose to have a private insurer, will you still be forced to pay for Universal Healthcare? Absolutely. Kind of like Social Security and we all see how well that’s worked out for us. Whether the Demo’s will admit it or not, when someone is forced to pay for a service for someone else, while also having to pay for their own services, that’s redistribution of wealth. That’s Socialism. Don’t believe me? Look it up.
  • Obama’s support of the FISA legislation. He flip flopped and supported the FISA bill and Telecomm Immunity when he said he wouldn’t. This piece of legislation is another one of this current administration’s use of fear tactics to gain more control over it’s people. In the name of “National Security” the FISA bill was passed and it basically continues to allow warrantless eavesdropping and eliminates many of the safeguards put in place by the 4th amendment. It also provides complete immunity to the telecomm companies that assist the government in this unconstitutional wiretapping.
  • Obama’s economic policy. I’ve never agreed with any Democrat’s economic policy as they are always about more taxes, bigger government, more handouts and more entitlements.
  • Obama’s wife. Just like I think the real danger in the Clinton family is Hillary, not Bill, I think Michelle is the same way. I think she harbors a lot of pent up anger and has a serious chip on her shoulder against white people.
  • Obama’s connection to Rev. Wright. Obama attended that church for 20+ years and those recent sermons were the VERY first time he ever heard those racist, bigoted statements from Rev. Wright? Liar. Wright served as a close friend and mentor, but Obama never knew Wright’s real feelings? If there was ANY white person, much less white pastor that said anything near as inflammatory as Wright, they would be labeled a racist cracker and no one would touch them with a 10ft pole, much less a presidential candidate. How long did it take Obama to disown Wright? That should tell you something.

    People have tried to discredit McCain by pointing out his relationship with controversial pastor John Hagee and by comparing it to the Wright/Obama relationship. It’s not even close. McCain doesn’t go to Hagee’s church. Hagee isn’t McCain’s mentor or close personal friend. He’s someone that offered a public endorsement of McCain. Did you know the New Black Panther party publicly endorses Barack Obama?

  • Obama’s methods and plans on how to tackle environmental issues. Obama thinks we should force - by passing new legislation - car manufacturers and other companies to develop certain products and new technologies. This encroaches on capitalism and the free market. The government needs to stay out of business. Let the market and the people decide what they want. With all the current “green” initiatives, haven’t we already seen a shift in thinking from car manufacturers and so many of the other industries in this nation? Let the people drive change, not the government through it’s strong arm of the law.

The bottom line is that most Democrat’s are excellent visionaries and dreamers. But they are just that: dreamers. They have wonderful ideas and make these great promises. It all sounds great when it’s being delivered from the podium, but how are you going to get from point A to B? They make promises that they themselves don’t have a clue how to fulfill. They lack an execution strategy.

Do I like McCain? No. Do I like him more than Obama? Yes. Do I feel like either will do a good job? No. And before anyone writes in criticizing me for not taking a stand and voting 3rd party, I’m sorry, but I just can’t do that. I did that in the primaries and gave it a valiant effort (just look at some of my other blog posts about Ron Paul). The fact is, I think we are in serious trouble if Obama gets into office and I’m going to do whatever I can to keep that from happening. Comments welcome.

Alaskan Wildlife Refuge Used For Hookers and Blow

America’s wildlife refuges are so short of money that one-third have no staff, boardwalks and buildings are in disrepair, and drug dealers are using them to grow marijuana and make methamphetamine, a group pushing for more funding says.

A decrease in law enforcement has left the refuges vulnerable to criminal activity, including prostitution, torched cars and illegal immigrant camps along the Potomac River in suburban Washington; gay sex hookups in South Carolina and Alabama; methamphetamine labs in Nevada; and pot growing operations in Washington state.
. . .
The alliance is recommending Congress increase funding for fiscal 2009 to $514 million and that full funding be reached by 2013. The House and Senate are expected to take up the issue in coming weeks.

So here we go with more spending by the greenie’s with money we don’t have? Their solution? Raise taxes on normal middle class and lower class citizens.

My solution? Let us drill in the Alaskan Wildlife Refuge and use those tax revenue’s from the oil proceeds to fund all the refuge’s across the nation. It’s actually a new concept. It’s called NOT spending money you don’t have.

And for the critic’s of drilling in ANWR, doesn’t sound like we’re doing a good job of protecting the refuge’s as it is according to the above article. Sure would be nice to have lower gas prices.
