Subtle Rantings

This is one of the reasons why people have such a negative view of New Orleans.

Well, I guess I should be fair to Nagin. It’s also the fault of his legal counsel:

The city ”looked at everything and just kind of piled it on,” Mayor Ray Nagin said. ”We got some advice from some attorneys to be aggressive with the number, and we’ll see what happens,” he said. (this in reference to his request for $77 billion from the Army Corps of Engineers, although only $1 billion is for infrastructure damages)

Seriously, could this man do anything more to reinforce the stereotype that everyone has of New Orleans and the citizens of New Orleans? Don’t even get me started on why Mississippi handled this so much better than “the Big Easy”. Grrrr, maybe one day I’ll put all my thoughts down on Katrina and New Orleans. Now THAT will be a long post.
